Top Dogs of the 2011-2012 TV season (Part 4)

Ready, set...play!

Today we are looking at our no.2 dog for the 2011-2012 TV season! Here goes...

2. 'Emma' from True Blood, season 5

Emma with her grandma

So now you are probably looking at the frame above and thinking there's something wrong with this picture. If you have watched the latest True Blood season you know we have cheated a little bit. If you have not, heavy spoiler alert from now on!

Yes, technically Emma is not supposed to be a dog. She's a werepup. But she is played by an adorable Husky puppy and honestly we couldn't resist.

In a world where vampires have 'come out of the coffin' and are living "peacefully" with humans thanks to synthetic Japanese blood, a telepathic waitress in the small southern town of Bon Temps gets into all kinds of trouble and yes, falls in love with a vampire or two. But it's not just vampires that exist in this world and werewolves are just one of the many creatures coming out of the woodwork.

Not all werewolves are made, some are born. Emma is one such example and one day the little girl finds herself turning into this irresistible little pup. If it had happened in the school changing rooms, this would probably be the werewolf equivalent of a 'Carrie' moment. Thankfully it happens at home in her PJs:

CUTE!

Emma is not only cute as a button but also very central to one of the story lines in this season of True Blood. She gets plenty of air time, making us go "awww..." repeatedly while watching.

Here's the little Husky being carried on the lot
That doesn't mean she's had it easy though. In fact I don't think the poor thing has had a moment of downtime since the first episode, but she brought an overall lightness to the often dark and blood-spattered world portrayed in the show which was a welcome change. Not much innocence to go around in Bon Temps folks!

True Blood is not the first show to use dogs to portray wolves. Notably Game of Thrones used Northern Inuit Dogs for its Direwolf pups in season 1. In season 2 they switched to full on wolves, which is why we couldn't cheat some more and add them to the list as well. I am tempted to say that I find the Northern Inuit Dogs more believable as wolves but Emma is so irresistible that I'll let it slide.

For being well trained, featuring prominently throughout the season, being a proper character and most importantly being irresistibly cute, our No.2 spot goes to True Blood's Emma!

There's only one to go so check back tomorrow to see who came out on top! In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments.
