Top Dogs of the 2011-2012 TV season (Part 2)

Ready, set...play!

Welcome back to our Top Dog picks for the 2011-2012 TV season! Without further ado, we give you number 4 on our list:

4. 'Stella' from Modern Family, season 3

Stella and her arch-nemesis Gloria

Stella is the (modern) family dog in the hit comedy show on ABC. Introduced at the end of season 2, Stella became a permanent resident of the Pritchett-Delgado home and promptly begun wrecking havoc.

In this mocumentary an older man, Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neil) his trophy wife Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and her son Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez) interact with two more families in crazy and often hilarious ways.  Jay's gay son, his partner and their adoptive daughter Lily are one, and Jay's daughter, her husband and three children form the other. All that was missing was obviously a dog!

Stella nearly ended up at the pound, but Jay didn't have the heart to abandon her especially after his step-son Manny took an instant liking to her. Ultimately, she becomes Jay's pride and joy irking Gloria into oblivion and driving her to over-exaggerated displays of jealousy.

This little French Bulldog is your typical rascal who eats shoes and finds ways to get everyone in trouble while looking all innocent and cute (I swear all dogs come pre-programmed with that expression).

Like all the characters in this show Stella is OTT and so are the reactions of the family members to her but at the same time, they often seem the most believeable.

The dog who plays Stella, Brigitte, won Best Dog in a Television Series at the Golden Collar Awards this year making it all the more sad that she will be replaced by another frenchie called Beatrice due to agency disagreements - humans I tell you!

Hopefully Beatrice is just as good because she sure has some big doggieboots to fill. We look forward to more Stella storylines in season 4!

Tomorrow we start with our top 3 so make sure to check back! In the meantime, let us know if you like Stella and what other doggies you feel should make the list.
