Dogs & London 2012

Last night, the 2012 games came to an end with another spectacular ceremony in London. Whatever your preferred news source, it has been impossible to avoid finding out more about the games for the past two weeks! From informative results updates to best/worst athletic wear and every potential scandalous bit of gossip - there's something out there for everyone to get into the spirit, even us dog lovers!

So in case you missed them, here's the two main dog news stories from the 2012 London Olympics!

1. Andy Murray's dogs sport some serious bling.

Scottish tennis pro Andy Murray walked away with the Gold medal in the Men's Singles and the Silver in the Mixed Doubles. Following this great success, he put one medal on each of his two dogs Maggie May and Rusty and posted the picture on Maggie May's  twitter account (yes you read that right).

The accompanying tweet read: "Here we go folks... Just checking to make sure Rusty definitely has the silver, obviously." If you too want to join Maggie May's 13,500 followers, the account is: @maggiemay_hem

 2. Nicola Adams makes sure her dog has a front row seat...

...at his kennel! It would be awesome if there was a nice box reserved at every event for the athletes' beloved pets to sit in, but since there is no such thing, they have to improvise. Nicola Adams, the British Boxing Gold Medal winner, was boarding her doberman Dexter in Leeds for the duration of the Olympics. To make sure her dog got a chance to see her epic win, she paid the kennel a small fee and  Dexter reportedly enjoyed the match on TV!

My dogs don't usually seem too interested in the TV unless another dog or animal is on it, but Nicola's dog seemed genuinely enthralled in this video posted by the kennel!

Did I miss a great story? Let me know and I'll gladly update this article!
